[ Eight finds it hard to read Ianto's lips when the young man turns away, but he's not about to let on about his hearing problems. Not to anyone. Not even his brother knows about it yet.
Still, he manages to get a few words out of what he says, enough to make him chuckle. ]
If I knew, I'd tell you. Sadly, Jack is a bit past my time. Or possibly thankfully. I may be a lot older than most people, but I don't think I could keep up with that man's flirting.
[Really, Eight. Of all the people, Ianto is the least likely to go
spreading a secret of yours around, should he find out about your hearing
loss. At the very least, he would be sympathetic and not turn when he's
speaking, so really you would benefit yourself, but if you must.]
I'm not even sure that Jack himself can keep up with his flirting,
although he does a fair job of it. [He turns back to the Doctor as
the machine sets about its task of warming up and grinding the
beans.] I manage somehow.
[Sadly, it's one quirk the Doctors all have in common. Keeping things hidden. Everything is fine, really! Nothing wrong. There's never anything wrong, except when everything is wrong. He just doesn't want everyone to shoulder his burdens.
Eight laughs and shakes his head at Ianto's comment, though, just thoroughly amused at Jack's existence in general. One of the strangest and most interesting human beings he's ever encountered.]
Well, more power to you. The man had me at a loss the first time we met.
